Raised in the 1970s, with MGM Studios only a few blocks away from her home, Helene was charmed by occasional glimpses of Hollywood glamour. Mentored by watching her mother Sue make her outfits, she was convinced that she had her own personal couturier. She later realized that it was her mother’s talent not magic that created her clothes and she needed to discover her own artistry.
Her personal journey began in New York City, where she studied product design at Parsons School of Design and worked in the fashion industry to remain close to her love of fashion. New York exposed her to new visions that led her to become a multifaceted designer and entrepreneur.
After five years in New York she returned home where she merged her design education and professional fashion career, and in 2001 she launched her first business venture, Ige, a furniture line, which received critical acclaim. Two years later she expanded the line to include home and fashion accessories. In 2003, she opened her flagship retail store on Beverly Boulevard in the heart of Los Angeles's Miracle Mile district. The boutique is filled with her own creations, as well as a treasure trove of new and vintage objects from all over the globe.
Her newest adventure and challenge has been creating her website, www.igedesign.com will spread her love for design and objects across the globe. You’ll now be able to experience her world online and in person when you purchase your first treasure from Helene’s world.
